It is greener than neighbouring Marmaris, with wide streets lined with trees and a relaxed ambiance. It nestles in the shelter of dramatic pine-clad mountains with a wide sweeping bay of coarse sand, where all kinds of water sports are available. The waters are shallow and calm making it relatively safe for children. The views from the beach are stunning, as it appears to be almost surrounded by mountains, dropping steeply into the sea. Hiking on the mountains provides fantastic views of the region and is very popular.
Uzunyali is located between central Marmaris and Icmeler. After a short walk from central Marmaris you come to the region. Uzunyali region is great with a very long seaside walking area. Marmaris folk beach is located here too. It offers lots of discos, clubs and cafe bars.
Turunc is a very small village, surrounded by pine forests, located about 20 km from Marmaris. As you round a sharp bend, you catch your first glimpse of the resort lying in front of you, steep mountains giving way to the small bay with its sparkling waters and sandy beach. Because of the cape situated in front, Turunc is regarded as a safe haven from prevailing winds. Is a popular spot with excursions boats. Those who wish to take nature walks, canoe, canyon, mountain climb, and sail, wind surf or attend jeep-safari tours can find convenient areas to do so. The most adventurous scuba dives can also be made here.
Cedrae Island is also known as Cleopatra Island or City Island. Sedir Island is famous with its golden sandy beach known as Cleopatra Beach and the ancient city of Cedrae.

There is a revered 1000-year old tree, one of the oldest in the country. The village gets more crowded during the International Bozburun Gullet Festival, 26 – 28 October.
